I never heard this band before and I must say that I very(much) like the album. Barbarud / Maniac Butcher

"Poland's Magnus can be best described as an amalgamation of traditional Heavy Metal with Thrash undertones and the occasional Death Metal and Hardcore influence. They are actually hard to peg down, sometimes sounding like Usurper or Obituary and other times like Motorhead or even Sick of It All. On this, their third and final full length 1994 release, they displayed all of these styles rather seamlessly. Stand out tracks are Come to Me, beginning with a haunting spoken word intro, the bizarre occult flavored Ritual, and the Motorhead tribute Kill Me (to Lemmy) with vocalist Rob Szymañski sounding exactly like Kilmister. In 2008, underground label Holycaust did us a favor by re-releasing this to a convenient CD format, which was never available in the past at this quality. Forget the bootlegs, pick this one up! Definitely recommended for fans of obscure Polish Metal and headbangers in general." - Thermonuclear Jackhammer

I don't really like it to tell you the truth.  It is a lot more straight thrash and less deathly. Y.K Insulter /NWN!

SOD #28: 9 Skulls
Originally recorded way back in 1993, this gem of Polish Thrash Metal gets the deluxe treatment in this CD release from Virginia’s Holycaust Records. The sound quality is crystal clear, so each bone-jarring riff inflicts maximum punishment and each sarcastic and hateful lyric comes through loud and clear. Magnus is not some Thrash Metal copy band, their full-assault style is totally unique and bears up well to repeat listenings. Hints of Slayer, Motorhead and Violence abound but these polish madmen manage to emerge as leaders, not followers on Alcoholic Suicide. You will be fucking THRASHED!!! (DH)

"The music of Poland's Magnus may be less familiar to many than their infamous image; some of vocalist Rob Bandit's old outfits are
filled with enough protruding nails to put Nifelheim to shame.  Alcoholic Suicide is Holycaust's CD reissue of the band's 1994
(and previously cassette-only) album, their last recorded output.  Compared to the slightly thrashy death of Magnus' previous
releases, "Alcoholic Suicide" has a much stronger thrash influence, with the soloing occasionally hinting at the band's mid-'80s demo
era as speed metal.  As with the I Was Watching My Death album, speed still reigns, but the band have finally chosen to let up on the throttle once in a while for more mid-paced passages.  There are also a couple of unusual elements that add some variety to the album--some work
("Kill Me!" is a fun piece of unadulterated Motörhead worship), some don't (while Rob's vocals are mostly his typical gruff singing,
gone are his wonderfully over the top Schmier shrieks, replaced instead with annoying cleaner singing), and some are just downright
weird (witness "Ritual," 2+ minutes of a cappella grunting and growling).  Nothing here has been changed drastically enough to alienate most fans of
the band's older material, and even with its shortcomings, newcomers to the band will find this to be solid death/thrash free of the
Morbid Angel emulation and Vader cloning that started to infect Poland in the '90s.  If more bands like Magnus had existed, perhaps Polish jokes
wouldn't be so prevalent."  -Violent Scimitar
